Input parameters in DMN models are necessary to input data into a model to carry out decisions. Input nodes in Decision Requirements Diagram (DRD) input information needed for one or more decisions. For more on DRD, check out our resource hub article: Decision Requirements Diagram
The information can be set to a specific context set up in a fact concept document. For more on fact concept documents, check out our resource hub article: Fact Concept
Add a DRD to your DMN Project
Add an DRD by selecting the Add New Document icon in the project explorer, and you can find it under Business Logic. Or if you already have a DRD that needs input, you can add it there.

Add an Input Node
Open the toolbox with Alt + x. Scroll down in the toolbox to the input node and drag and drop it into the flow.

Select the node, and in the properties window to the left, you need to fill in information for the expandable Type section.
Assembly is the URI of the fact concept being referenced. Type is the fact in the document that you are inputting.

Label the node clearly to show what information it takes in. When the project runs, it expects input that matches the structure defined in the fact concept.

The input node can go to multiple decision nodes.

Summary of Input parameters in DMN
Input parameters in DMN models are essential for feeding data into decisions, and input nodes in the Decision Requirements Diagram (DRD) supply the necessary information based on a defined Fact Concept. To add a DRD, use the “Add New Document” option under Business Logic, or edit an existing DRD if input is already required. Insert an input node via the toolbox (Alt + X), configure its Type and Assembly reference using the Fact Concept, and label it clearly to ensure the model expects the correct input structure during execution.
