🛑Stop building zombie processes that just move tasks from A to B.
Start building systems that can actually remember and adapt.
I see this mistake in architecture every single week. You have a beautiful BPMN flow. You have a flexible CMMN case file. And you think you've solved a “decision” problem.
You haven't.
Process (BPMN) is a train track. It prescribes the route. Case Management (CMMN) is a sandbox. It lets the worker pick the route. Neither of them determines the destination.
💥Neither of them determines the destination.
On the other hand, decision models come in two forms:
🔹Stateless and multistep: A transaction-centric model that works based on dependencies such as Decision Requirements Diagram (in the DMN). It specifies a connected atomic set of logic to create an outcome.
🔹Stateful and Adaptive: Continuous Decision Model that enables multiple decision models span across window of time and adapt based on feedback and their influence on one another. It defines the continuum of decision-making, rather than just a snapshot.
Don't confuse the tracks with the logic that steers the train.
