💡Decision Map vs Decision Model vs Decision Network

I want to clarify the definitions of these concepts to communicate and articulate values around “decision” crystal clear. Terminology matters; if we don't define terms thoughtfully, they become confusing and conflicting.

🔹Decision Map – It is a non-executable diagram of how decisions are made and potentially can be executed.

🔹Decision Model – It is an executable diagram of how decisions are made and will be executed.

🔹Decision Network – A composite model based on a set of connected Decision Models that can be activated and deactivated based on circumstances.

Here are a couple of key considerations:
* When it comes to decisions, we cannot use a reductionist approach to map or model them as they lose context and relationships. A Decision Graph is required to depict a decision with a diagram.
* When a diagram is executable, it does not need to be coded (programmed) to run — executability is an inherent nature of that particular diagram. Meaning no coding/programming is required to make it produce an outcome, evaluate inputs or express behaviours at runtime.
