⛔STOP using the wrong definitions and terminologies, they matter a lot.

Every day I see incorrect definitions and attempts to redefine terms. Almost everyone confuses things related to “Decision” and “Decision Intelligence”.

So, let's do a level settings to make sure our understanding of them are correct.

🔵 Decision (business decision): Making the final judgment based on rules, computation, data and insight.

🔵 Decision Intelligence: The discipline of explicitly modeling and proactively operationalizing Decisions to improve business Outcomes.

🔵 Decision Modeling: Specifying a structure that clearly and transparently defines how an outcome is reached by applying logic within a context using given inputs.

🔵 Decision Model and Notation (DMN): The open standard from OMG to model business decisions, business rules, computational logic, and build other reusable libraries with the ability to execute at runtime for creating the outcomes.

🔵 Decision Management: The practice of governing, operationalizing, monitoring, and continuously improving Decisions as strategic business assets.
