⛔Stop imagining AI agents are an exception!
When you have professional staff and SMEs working in any organization, you still ensure they have to follow business rules, policies and regulations.
Almost all organizations are regulated, one more than another. Some are highly regulated, such as banking insurance financialservices and government. In all of them, a set of guardrails is set up to ensure works are done within a framework that is guaranteed to be compliant. These policies, business rules, and procedures are enforced within digital systems, automated workflows, and processes.
To this mix, we add the AI workers i.e. AgenticAI or AI Agents.
What is going to change?
✨The type of staff and professional worker. ⭕Not the BusinessRules and procedures.
What does this mean?
This means the work should still be done in a compliant way.
💡That means, potentially the process will change, but still:
🔹Enforcement of the rules and policies MUST still be in place
🔹All workers, humans and non-humans, should follow the business rules, policies, and procedures based on a prescriptive model
In your organizations, you just don't hand out the stack of legal documents to employees (unless they are from the legal team) and ask them to understand and follow them, do you? You put steps and procedures in place and enforce relevant business rules and policies long the way.
There are team they implement those legal documents and create safe and regulated environments, systems, and workflows for humans to follow.
💣The same applies to non-human workers AgenticAI.
You should NOT expect them to just because they can read and understand the legal documents and procedures they follow. You MUST set up the environment, system, and workflows that guarantee the outcome for them.
The difference?
Other than the process, None. They are just another type of worker with some other skill set. Welcome them onboard, ask them to follow the procedures, and set up an environment that enforces the business rules, policies, and regulations.
