🛑Decision Management is a discipline and NOT the same as Decision Automation!

📑Decision management is about ensuring the business decisions that are made in organizations are transparent and clearly define (a) scope, (b) context, (c) circumstances and (d) success criteria. Additionally, once they are executed, the outcomes are explainable.

If you think about it, decision management covers a wide range of business decisions in organizations. The core of decision management is to “model business decisions” to establish how organizations make decisions in different areas and how the outcomes are evaluated.

🪧Decision Management does not necessarily mean automating them. For instance, business decisions around hiring, acquisition, purchasing licenses, buying equipment, etc., in many industries are not necessarily good candidates for automation, but they should be managed systematically as the operation of business relies on them.

🤖In this wide range of decisions that are managed (hopefully!) in the organization, a subset of them are good candidates for DecisionAutomation. Below are the characteristics of the decisions that are a good candidate for automation:
🔹They are repetitive
🔹There are many instances of them every day
🔹They are inherently complex: data, calculation, business rules, domain-knowledge intensive
🔹They vary between different cases (and there are many cases every day)
🔹They have a high impact on business success criteria

🚀Business Decisions should be managed in the organizations no matter what; some of those are good candidates for automation. So, what are the benefits of automating them?
✅Increasing the operational capacity without increasing the headcount
✅Reducing error rates, noise, and bias
✅Increasing the time-to-market
✅Reducing the operation delays
✅Consistency of quality of the outcomes
