🚨Who (as what roles) should build the decision models in your organization?
✨Decision modeling is one part of the larger space of Decision Intelligence that is inherited from Decision Management. Essentially, one can say Decision Management evolved to Decision Intelligence.
Decision Modeling is the activity of building decision models that represent business decisions. These business decisions can be any type in any use case. The beauty is that the right decision modeling can enable a wide range of technologies to automate those business decisions.
The best option for decision modeling is Decision Model and Notation (DMN), which is an open standard for modeling and executing decision models.
➡️ To learn DMN, spend 20 minutes and read the Quick Guide of DMN https://lnkd.in/gN6JTn-q
💡Everyone in organizations should learn decision modeling using DMN. This enables clear communication, evaluation, and transparent execution of business decisions. Who does not want that!?
💣Automating and augmenting business decisions in an enterprise requires more than just decision modeling but it MUST leverage decision modeling (i.e. DMN) to ensure success for various reasons. In fact, decision modeling is the core part of #DecisionIntelligence and a mandatory requirement to model business decisions explicitly.
The question now becomes, who (what role) does the actual job (design, automate, and operationalize)?
There are two approaches:
🔹Empowering existing data roles — Organizations can level up their data team (data scientists, data engineers, ML engineers, data architects, etc.) with Decision Modeling and Notation (DMN) and implement processes to ensure the new approach.
🔹Introducing New roles — Organizations can create a new set of roles, such as Decision Scientists, Decision Engineers, Decision Architects, and so on. These roles revolve around “decision modeling” as it is the foundational need and leverage data and ML technologies and skills.
Which approach do you think will make your organization successful, #CDO #CIO #CDAO #CTO? Are we going to see Chief Decision Officer and VP-level roles as well?
