💥If analytics will not change behaviors, why do we do any data and analytics projects?

Truly many of them won't change any organizational behaviors. Dashboards for sure do not influence change based on the current stats. “That's why Gartner predicts that by 2028, decision augmentation and decision automation embedded in enterprise applications will reduce the need for dashboards for decision support by 40%.” #data #dashboard #bi #businessintelligence

If you are talking or thinking about how to do the last mile of analytics, you've got your project backward. It's the tail wagging the 🐕dog.

How to avoid this?

✨You need to put business decisions at the center from the beginning, which is called the Decision-Centric Approach #decisioncentric. This means that decision engineers must work with the business stakeholders and operational frontline to understand and identify a set of business decisions and KPIs.

Then what?

1️⃣ Pick a business decision
2️⃣ Decompose it into smaller and more easy-to-understand decision units
3️⃣ Establish the relation between those units
4️⃣ Identify the metrics of units based on the decision KPIs the group cares about

Repeat this👆 for the other set of identified business decisions.

This simple process creates a set of decision graphs for your identified business decisions. They are the blueprints on what to improve, how to improve them, and why they matter to business.

💣No last like of analytics, no unactioned dashboard, or even no dashboard at all.
